February 6th, 2011 - Box 00151, CHAME, Pa
Whilst in Panama City, you should visit the restaurant "El Pangea", not just to have a fabulous meal surrounded by fascinating decor but to view the paintings of Podi Lawrence, an English artist with a wide reputation and a series of awards behind her. A painter of life for life. She describes her own work as an attempt to provide the viewers with a new aspect of life, defining colors that most people do not see, in an impressionistic style.
Whilst in Panama she has been inspired to paint her interpretation of the shadows on walls. This seems to tell so much of her life in recent years having spent most of her time caring for her terminally ill husband.
Other aspects of life in Panama also come to the front in this display of her latest paintings. Inspired by the special Latin American way of riding the most beautiful horses, the exhibit includes three renditions of these proud animals and their riders. Also included are some small pieces of the surrounding countryside along the Southern coastline of Panama.
She has included just one portrait. Portraiture has been the mainstay of her life's work and she has painted many a well known person including ballerinas of the English National Ballet, the Royal Ballet, the Dean of King's college Hospital in London and "a few hundred or so" children.
You can see a vast selection of her work on Fine Art America - direct to her page:
